How To Set Location To High Accuracy

Good day everyone!

My previous thread talks more about the difference between GPS and A-GPS and how to properly disable it because we should all know that toggling the GPS OFF via the notification shade does not necessarily "turns-OFF" app location tracking, cheeky Google implementation right? You may want to visit it, here's the link Boggling fact about GPS toggle or https://c.mi.com/thread-1893982-1-0.html

The topic for today is GPS or I would say A-GPS, the much more accurate of the two. I have noticed that there were increasing number of people that were unable to select the "High Accuracy Mode" in their Location settings. Let's cut to the chase and here's the steps that a user should do to select "High accuracy" mode:

  • Go to Settings then tap the Search bar at the top.
  • Type the keyword "location" without the quote and tap the first entry in the drop-down suggestion.
  • In the Location setting, focus on the "LOCATION SERVICES" group-of-items at the bottom and tap "Google Location Accuracy".
  • Toggle the "Improve Location Accuracy" ON.
  • Go back and you can now select the "High accuracy" mode in the location settings.

Procedure with illustration:
1. Go to Settings then tap the Search bar at the top.

2. Type the keyword "location" without the quote and tap the first entry in the drop-down suggestion.

3. In the Location setting, focus on the "LOCATION SERVICES" group-of-items at the bottom and tap "Google Location Accuracy".

4. Toggle the "Improve Location Accuracy" ON.

5. Go back and you can now select the "High accuracy" mode in the location settings.

Now you may wonder, "Why would Google make it so hard to enable this feature?". The key to this is a new policy for privacy that were, maybe, forced by law in which Google is under that such type of advanced and accurate location tracking should be opt-in or be manually toggled-ON by the user and by toggling it ON, the user should agree to Google's terms and conditions, refer to the "alarmingly" small texts underneath the "Improve Location Accuray" toggle:

Google Location Accuracy

Google's location service improves location accuracy by using WiFi, mobile networks, and sensors to help estimate your location. Google may collect location data periodically and use this data in an anonymous way to improve location accuracy and location-based services.

Turning this off will result in your device only using GPS for location. This may impact the accuracy of location used by apps such as Maps and Find My Device.

The statement appeals more on the legal side of things which favors Google's data collection and not just by making your location "more accurate". If you ever toggled this ON, I hope that you've read that itty-bit of text which explains what it does. The location of the toggle, the size of the characters, shows that it is not designed-well to be "read", just like the terms and conditions before you install an app in your PC. Who reads them anyway?

Does anyone know this already? Any suggestions or corrections? Comment them below. Thanks and Godbless everyone!
